Hector Holguin joins Red Wolves as Director of Dalton Academy

DALTON, GA. (August 31, 2021) - Today the Dalton Red Wolves announced the appointment of Hector Holguin as the new Director of the Dalton Red Wolves Academy. Holguin, a longtime Dalton resident, is the current Head Coach at Southeast Whitfield High School in Dalton. Under Holguin’s direction for 13 seasons, the Raiders captured their second Class AAAA title this past May with a 4-0 win over East Hall High School. Southeast finished the year undefeated going 18-0-3, subsequently being named Coach of The Year during that season. “We are very excited to welcome Hector to the Red Wolves family. His deep ties in Dalton and vast knowledge of the game are going to be major assets for our players and teams in Dalton,” said Red Wolves Academy Executive Vice President, Derek Greene. Holguin is eager to help continue the growth and opportunities for young players in Dalton. “I am honored and humbled to represent such a great academy in one of the most talented regions in the state,” said Holguin. “Dalton Red Wolves academy has helped produce quality homegrown talent, to be able to work with the youth in the area where I was born and raised is something that I am very excited about.” Dalton and Chattanooga players have combined to achieve great success on the field in major competitions having won many of the nations top tournaments as well as putting countless players into collegiate programs as well as the professional ranks. Christin Zaragoza, the first academy player to sign a professional academy contract with the Red Wolves, is from Dalton. Greene sees that as a major benefit. “Having Christian sign with the First Team should help provide a clear vision to players and families about the opportunity for players within the Red Wolves organization, whether you are from Chattanooga, Dalton, or surrounding areas. Our coaches and players are developing players at a high rate and providing some big-time opportunities in college and the pro ranks. I am excited about working with Hector as we see this continued success in our Dalton Academy,” said Greene.
