February 2020: SoccerWire.com recently published the inaugural edition of the SoccerWire Top 100 Boys Soccer Clubs list, which will become a new monthly series throughout 2020 and beyond. The Chattanooga Red Wolves Academy, in only its first year of existence, clocked in at number 99 for the month of February.
Director of Coaching Danny McBride had this to say: “It is a fantastic achievement to be recognized as one of the top 100 clubs in the nation, but we are not satisfied with that alone. We want to continue to develop great players and great people who have opportunities to succeed in pro soccer, college soccer and in life.”
McBride went on to add, “To accomplish that, we recognize the need to have a quality over quantity mentality. We have one of the strongest coaching staff in the region who works tirelessly to develop the very best players, not just in Chattanooga but across the nation. Our most recent recognition reflects that. We are collectively proud, but hungry to achieve more.”
The ranking is reflective of the success that the Red Wolves Academy teams in Chattanooga and Dalton have achieved over the course of the fall season. This success includes strong performances in the Raleigh Showcase in November along with the Boys Disney Showcase in December. The Red Wolves Academy teams were able to put together one of the strongest showings of any Academy at the prestigious Disney Showcase.
VP of Youth Operations, Matt Yelton, added, “When we started the Red Wolves Academy just over 9 months ago, our focus from the start was to develop a club for players who were committed and serious about reaching the top level of their game. Our ambition is for our players to develop from the youngest of ages into future college and professional players.”
In the first year, the Red Wolves Academy has already seen multiple players sign with several colleges, and several players are now in consideration for a USL Academy contract.
Yelton went on to add, “We know we aren’t the club for every player. We require a high level of commitment and personal discipline. As Danny said, our desire isn’t to be the biggest club, but we do want to be the best and this ranking is just the start of our move up in the youth soccer ranks in the United States.”
